The short version: you can read everything here without telling us who you are, what we keep is mostly what you typed and what you opened, and you can delete all of it from inside the product.
What is stored

What is not stored
- No advertising identifier and no third-party tracker while there are no ads.
- No raw IP address alongside your reading. Where an address is needed to stop abuse, it is hashed with a salt that changes daily and cannot be turned back into an address.
- No password. Signing in goes through Google or Apple, who never pass us one.
- No location, contacts, photos or microphone.
Reading as a guest
Open the site and you get an anonymous id so the app can remember your place. It is not linked to a name or an email address until you choose to sign in. Clearing your browser storage ends it.
Who else sees it
Your published Bites, your handle, your display name and your bio are public. Your saves, votes, reading history and drafts are not, and are never shown to other readers or to writers. A writer sees how many people finished a story, never who.
Two processors are involved in publishing: an embedding service that turns a story into numbers so the feed can find similar work, and a language model that runs the safety and labelling pass described in the community rules. Both receive the text of a published Bite. Neither receives your identity.
Deleting everything
/delete-account, or Settings in the app. Your Bites are unpublished at once, your sign-in identities and device tokens are removed, your account row is anonymised and the content is hard-deleted after 30 days. Reading records keep an opaque id that is no longer connected to a person.
Children
BiteBooks is not for under-13s. Mature content requires a stated birth year putting you at 16 or over; we store the answer, not the date.
